We delivered comprehensive e-commerce platform development for Renault Groupe, revolutionising their online retail capabilities and customer experience across automotive aftersales. As a leading automotive manufacturer requiring sophisticated commerce solutions for service plans, warranties, and vehicle handbooks, they needed a robust platform capable of handling complex product configurations whilst delivering exceptional user experiences across both Renault and Dacia brands.
We delivered a unified Umbraco solution with seamless SSO integration and enterprise data connectivity, creating industry-leading functionality for automotive e-commerce.
Renault UK needed to modernise their legacy Umbraco 7 platform which was reaching end-of-life support, requiring migration to a robust, scalable e-commerce solution. They required seamless customer journeys and the flexibility to create personalised experiences using real vehicle data integration across both Renault and Dacia brands. The team wanted to explore how their digital presence could better serve customers purchasing service plans, warranties, and accessories whilst handling complex product configurations. Most importantly, they sought to establish a unified, future-proof platform with industry-leading mobile capabilities.
We delivered transformative e-commerce platform development through cutting-edge Umbraco implementation and pioneering enterprise integrations. Our approach centred on creating a frictionless, mobile-first platform that could leverage real-time vehicle data whilst delivering personalised customer experiences. We completely reimagined the purchase journey with seamless SSO integration via OpenID Connect, enabling customers to access verified vehicle data instantly. Most significantly, we developed sophisticated API integration with Renault's enterprise systems, creating unprecedented personalisation and trust through real-time vehicle data display.
We began with a deep analysis of audience segments and website analytics. Collaborative strategy sessions helped us define clear objectives rooted in real user behavior.
Using those insights, we mapped out customer journeys and translated them into user interface design and a consistent visual language — setting the foundation for the build phase.
A key enhancement is the integration with Renault's enterprise vehicle and customer data services, which enriches the experience by pulling in detailed vehicle data - such as registration, VIN, and model type - alongside matching car images.
Customers instantly see their car on the screen, creating reassurance and personalisation that strengthens trust and boosts conversion.
Previously built on Umbraco 7 and Merchello, the new platform is built on Umbraco 13 and Umbraco Commerce, replacing Merchello with a scalable, secure, and future-proof foundation.
At the centre of the experience is seamless SSO via OpenID Connect, allowing customers to log in using their existing My Renault or My Dacia account.
This enables real-time retrieval of verified user and vehicle data, dramatically reducing friction and improving the checkout journey.
